Joyce A. Meyer

ISHPEMING, Mich. - Joyce A. Meyer, age 71, of 47 Sunnyside Estates, passed away on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at the Marquette General Hospital following a brief illness.

Joyce was born March 20, 1941 in Ishpeming, MI the daughter of the late Clifford R. and Elizabeth R. (Maloney) Bennetts. She was a graduate of the Ishpeming High School, Class of 1959, and served on Ishpeming High School reunion committee. Joyce married Raymond J. Meyer and they briefly moved to Chicago, returning to Ishpeming in the mid-'60s, and resided here since. Joyce worked for Montgomery Wards in Ishpeming in the receiving and delivery department for several years.

She later worked for H&R Block, first as a tax preparer, working her way up to quality controller with the company, retiring in 2007.

Joyce loved raising full size and miniature show horses, a hobby she kept up with for over 43 years, and took her to many areas across the country. She was a member of the Ishpeming Trail Riders Club, the Marquette County Horse Club, the Upper Peninsula Horseman's Association, and the HAME miniature horse club.

Joyce had served as a member of the Marquette Co. Fair board for several years. She enjoyed camping and was a member of the Good Sam camping club and an avid Green Bay Packer fan. Joyce enjoyed her twice a week walks with her classmates.

Survivors include her husband Ray of Ishpeming, 3 children; Lori Perry of Iron River, Kevin (Georgia) Meyer of Tucson, AZ, and Roberta "Bobbi" (Dave Miller) Meyer of Marquette, a sister Linda (Gary) Kratz of Ishpeming, a brother David (Lynda) Bennetts of Cold Springs, MN, sister-in-law Pauline (Marvin) Jordahl of Jacksonville, FL, 2 grandchildren Eric (Anne) Meyer, Troy Meyer, step-grandchildren Billie Jo (Ted) Krask and Andy Perry, numerous nieces and nephews, along with her beloved Shih Tzu puppies Roxie & Raven. She was preceded in death by her other Shih Tzu puppies Tuffy and Lacey.

The family will greet relatives and friends from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home with Pastor Alan McCall of the Harvey Baptist Church to officiate. Inurnment will take place at Northland Chapel Gardens.
