ALMA, Alaska - James Carl Rasmussen, age 65, formerly of Marquette, MI, died Monday, January 21, 2013 in a Fort Smith, AK hospital after a long illness.
He was born in Marquette to the late Carl Louis and Evelyn Agnes (Dupras) Rasmussen on February 20, 1947.
Jim attended Graveraet High School and worked at the Cliffs Dow Chemical Co. before joining the Army. He was a retired heavy equipment operator and mechanic, a veteran of the Vietnam War. After the Army, he worked at Washex Machinery Corporation in Wichita Falls, TX, retiring as a foreman, later setting up his own clock repair shop in Norman, OK. Jim was a member of the Baptist Church.
Jim is survived by two daughters, Kerri (Mat-thew) Wright of TN and Kelli Rasmussen of TX; and a son, James (Gena) Rasmussen of Alma, AK; and a sister Joan (William) Kapeller of Gwinn, MI; 7 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Daniel.
At his request, cremation was under the direction of The Ocker Funeral Home in Alma, AK.
