MAPLE CITY, Mich. (AP) — Glen Lake and Frankfort officials have decided to cancel an upcoming football game following a car accident that killed a 31-year-old man and injured three players.

Frankfort athletic director Dave Jackson tells The Traverse City Record-Eagle ( ) the decision to cancel Friday night's varsity game was made out of respect for students who have been affected by the tragedy.

Brian Nachazel was killed in a two-car crash Saturday night. A 17-year-old Glen Lake football player was in critical condition and two of his 16-year-old teammates were in fair condition Wednesday.

Police say one of the 16-year-olds who was driving purposely ran a stop sign, causing the deadly crash. They say he could face criminal charges for reckless driving.
