MARQUETTE - In a pair of home games Jan. 25-26, the Marquette Senior High School junior varsity hockey team dropped a pair of games to the Sault Ste. Marie Midget A Firehawks, 3-2 and 2-1.

In the 3-2 loss, Alex Warchol scored both MSHS goals. Drawing assists were James Hendrickson and Brock Smith.

The Redmen were outshot 42-15.

"(MSHS goaltender) Gabe Apple did a fantastic job for us," Marquette head coach Kevin Thomsen said. "He made some saves that we really outstanding.

"The Firehawks are a very good team and we just didn't show up."

In the 2-1 defeat, Warchol notched the lone Marquette goal, with assists from Smith and Hunter Larson.

"We showed up, played our game and had enough high-quality shots that I wasn't disappointed with our performance," Thomsen said.
