SENEY - A 39-year-old Marquette man was killed near Seney Wednesday afternoon when the vehicle he was driving was struck by a semi tractor-trailer truck loaded with logs.

Michigan State Police troopers from the St. Ignace post had few details on the crash available this morning. Police said the accident was reported at about 4 p.m. and occurred along M-28.

Troopers said the passenger car and the semi had been traveling in the same direction at the time of the accident. Stormy weather conditions were reported in the area Wednesday afternoon, with blowing and drifting snow and a winter storm warning in effect.

Police said logs from the truck spilled onto the highway, which forced closure of the road for a lengthy period. The highway was reopened at 9:40 p.m.

More details were expected to be released later today.
