BIWABIK, Minn. - The Northern Michigan University nordic ski teams dominated the classic races Saturday at the St. Scholastica Invitational at Giants Ridge in Biwabik, Minn.
The Northern women led with 67 team points and the men scored 65.
The women's squad swept the top four spots in the 5.8-kilometer race. Freshman Hannah Boyer won the race in 19 minutes, 15.3 seconds, followed by junior Jordyn Ross (19:25.9), freshman Mary Kate Cirelli (19:49.0) and freshman Malin Eriksson (19:50.8).
Junior Rosie Frankowski also finished in the top 10 while sophomore Elizabeth Simak was 16th and freshman Megan Edic 25th.
For the NMU men, junior Erik Soderman won the men's 11.6K race in 33:15.3. Senior teammate Chris Bowler (33:54.5) placed third and junior George Cartwright (34:32.7) was sixth.
Freshman Sam Elfstrom came in 12th and junior Ben Hugus 14th to round out the Wildcat men's skiers.
