MARQUETTE - AJ Grazulis has been named the Superiorland Kiwanis Marquette Senior High School Male Athlete of the Month for December.
Grazulis has been a member of the MSHS boys basketball program for four years.
As a junior last year, he was a Great Northern Conference honorable mention selection.
This year he has become one of the best players in the conference, if not the UP.
Grazulis was a member of the Marquette football team and last fall, picked up honorable mention honors in the GNC and All-U.P. Class ABC Defensive End laurels.
He rounds out his sports seasons by playing tennis for Marquette in the spring.
Academically, Grazulis has a 4.09 GPA and is a member of the National Honor Society. He has achieved Outstanding Academic Achievement all four years at MSHS.
He's a student council member and a member of the Michigan School Vocal Music Association State Honors Choir.
Outside of school, Grazulis enjoys video games, hanging out with friends, reading and Ultimate Frisbee. He volunteers at school events and was a fifth grade Bay Cliff Health Camp counselor.
"AJ's knowledge of the game, his willingness to be coached and his overall positive attitude has made him an invaluable member of the basketball program at MSHS," Marquette head boys basketball coach Brad Nelson said. " He possesses excellent work ethic on and off the court."
After graduation, Grazulis plans to attend college and would like to major in engineering.
