McMILLAN, Mich. - Lifelong McMillan resident, Gary C. McInnis, 66, died Monday morning January 14, 2013 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Born May 30, 1946 in Newberry, son of the late Donald & Delta (Reed) McInnis, Gary was a 1964 graduate of Newberry High School. Gary was employed as a maintenance mechanic at the former Newberry Regional Mental Health Center for 27 years until its closure in 1992. He continued employment as a Real Estate agent in the Luce County area for an additional 15 years.

Gary served as Supervisor for the Township of Columbus for 16 years and was a member of the Columbus Township Volunteer Fire Department for 27 years. He loved the outdoors hunting, fishing and trapping, enjoying these hobbies with his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed spending time with his family at their camp on the river and their cottage on Round Lake.

Survivors include his loving wife, the former Marion Berry, whom he married October 3, 1964 in Newberry; children Diane (Richard) Bouchard of Newberry, Joe (Barb) McInnis of Wetmore, Karla (Mark) Suriano of Sault Ste. Marie and Lynn (Rod) Rapson of Bad Axe; grandchildren Donald and Kara Bouchard, Ian and Sydney McInnis, Mike, Steve and Joe Suriano, Recce and Hanna Rapson; great-granddaughter Madison; siblings Donald (Marjorie) and David (Jan) all of Florida, Tom (Sandy) of Munising, Mickey Rivard of Newberry and Margaret (Zen) Hanger of Muskegon; several nieces and nephews.

Per request, cremation services were accorded. Friends may call at the McMillan United Methodist Church on Saturday January 19, 2013 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. A memorial service celebrating his life will follow at 2:00 pm at the church with Pastor Ian McDonald officiating.
