MARQUETTE - Four members of the Great Lakes Ski Academy were three-time winners at the Central USSA Region 2 event held Dec. 29-30.
Racing at Mont Ripley in the New Year Race, Brad Seaborg in Under-14 boys, Aidan Gayner in U12 girls, Megan Soria in U10 girls and Hayden Kauppila in U10 boys were the triple winners.
They weren't the GLSA's only racers to make the podium in a field that also included skiers from Wisconsn and Illinois.
Aaron Grzelak in U12 boys won in Saturday's giant slalom and Kombi races, Eric Gencheff in U16 won Saturday's GS, Joe Weber in U16 took Sunday's GS. Nate King (U16) took a silver and bronze.
In his first USSA race, Logan Audette (U10) earned two silvers and a bronze. Kayley Elmblad (U12) won silver three times, Josie Snyder (U14) got a silver and Nick Weber (U18) a bronze.
Other top-10 GLSA finishers included Luke Johnson (U18), Travis Hindman (U16), Nathan Soria (U16), Hanna Johnson (U16), Micaela Gayner (U16), Natalie Robinia (U14), Sadah Scheidt (U14), Collin Hicks (U12), Adam Skendzel (U14), Drew Thomas and Dylan Larson (U18).
Two weeks earlier, Gabby Gencheff had two podium finishes to pace the GLSA in the first MidAm of the season at Nubs Nob and Boyne Highlands in the Lower Peninsula.
With hundreds of the best skier racers at a variety of ages from around the Midwest and Canada, Gencheff took a silver and a bronze in two slalom races.
Teammate Colin Vogel was first among U18 boys in the giant slalom, while Luke Johnson finished eighth in a slalom race.
GLSA also had the distinction on contributing three U16 racers to the event as part of a new development program in the Central USSA. Joe Weber, Eric Gencheff and Nate King were invited to forerun the slalom events and participate in the giant slalom due to their performances in the 2011-12 season, where they were the top finishers in their age class.
