MARQUETTE, Mich. - Walter Donald McNair, 85, of Marquette, passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2013, at the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans.
He was born September 1, 1927, in Lombard, Illinois, a son of the late Walter D. and Mable (Lundgren) McNair. He was a 1947 graduate of Antigo High School in Antigo, WI.
Walter was a World War II veteran, serving in the Army in the European Theater. He also served in the U.S. Civil Service in Alaska from 1959 to 1977.
He was a member of IBEW and the DAV. Walter was a licensed pilot and enjoyed traveling to the Philippines and Alaska and spent his winters in warmer climates.
He is survived by his wife, Maria Elena C. McNair of Marquette; children, Karen McNair of Chicago, Scott McNair of Indiana, Mark McNair of Florida, and Jessica C. McNair of Henderson, Nev. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Eugene; and a sister, Madeline Chilton.
In accordance with Walter's wishes, there will be no services at this time.
