MARQUETTE, MI. - Patricia J. Elmblad, 90, formerly of Fort Pierce, FL., died at 9:39 a.m. on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility where she had resided since May, 2007.
Patricia was born November 11, 1922 in L'Anse to Gerald and Gladys (Ford) McKindles and graduated from L'Anse High School, Class of 1940. During WWII, she was employed as a welder, working on airplanes. Patricia married Ray P. Elmblad, and together they owned and operated a general contracting business, working in L'Anse, Escanaba, and finally moving to Ft. Pierce, FL in 1983, from where they retired.
Mrs. Elmblad enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was an avid sports fan, enjoying watching her children and grandchildren play sports as they grew up. She was fun loving, protective of her family and a very loyal friend to many.
Surviving are her daughter, Nancy (Roger) Johnson of Ft. Pierce, FL; 2 sons: Gerald (Annette) Elmblad of Marquette and Ray (Amy) Elmblad of Novi; 8 grandchildren: Jay (Angelia) Johnson, Amy (Greg) Awe, Gretchen (Todd) Schneider, Maija (John) Fish, Ashley (Joseph) Fransted, Stiig Elmblad, Lara and Anders Elmblad; 9 great grandchildren; a brother, Gerald McKindles of Ellicot City, MD; a sister, Rosemary Roberts of NC; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ray P. Elmblad, on December 17, 2000, a son, John Drew, and a grandson, Rick Drew.
