MARQUETTE - Andrew Kilpela, 14, and Hannah Winn, 8, set team records while Colin Vanderschaaf, 7, qualified for a second state championship event at the Marquette Holiday Swim Meet hosted Dec. 15 by the YMCA of Marquette County.
Kilpela's mark came in the 50-yard backstroke when he covered the distance in 28.73 seconds.
Winn set the age 8 & under team record in the 200-yard butterfly with a 3:44.27 clocking.
Vanderschaaf won the 25-yard freestyle in a qualifying time of 17.12.
The Killer Whales now have 14 athletes qualified for individual events at the YMCA state championship meet scheduled for March.
