HARVEY, MI. - Elizabeth Mary Fisette, age 96, of 218 1/2 Silver Creek Road in Harvey, entered eternal life Saturday, December 15, 2012, at her home in the loving, comforting care of her family and staff of Lake Superior Hospice.
Born March 23, 1916 in Nett Lake Minnesota, a daughter of Stephen and Mary(Fields) Benner, was a member of the Minnesota Chippewa Indians, Bois Forte Band. Elizabeth graduated from the Flandreau Indian School in South Dakota. She became a talented seamstress who worked for many local area clothing stores, later becoming self-employed.
Elizabeth enjoyed Sunday drives on old country roads with her husband, Woodrow and her children, and fishing and going to camp. She was an avid reader and showed great interest in world and local news. Elizabeth was a member of St. Michael Church. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by those she's left behind.
Survivors include her children, Leslie D. (Eyelyn Geb) Bedell, Stephen L. (Valerie) Fisette and Georgianna (Robert) Maynard; her grandchildren, Tanya (Josef) Whitney, Tim Maynard, Jessica (Daniel) DeRoche, Joshua Fisette, Laura Fisette, Jennifer Garbow; her great-grandchildren, Anastacia Maynard, Ella DeRoche, Isaiah Moore, Wakinyan Moore, Evan Beyne and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow; sisters, Margaret, Anne, Sarah and Estelle and brothers, Frank and Ira; her grandsons Steven Bedell and Jason Maynard.
Friends may call at the Fassbender Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm. Funeral services will begin at 6:00 pm Tuesday evening with Rev. Ben Paris officiating. A Native American Ceremony will follow.
Burial will be made in the Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to: Lake Superior Hospice, Marquette, 914 W. Baraga Avenue, MI 49855.
