MARQUETTE, MI. - David A. Priebe, 73, of 548 County Road 545, Marquette, died at 4:37 p.m. on Thursday, December 13, 2012 at the Mather Nursing Center where he had resided since September.
David was born August 15, 1939 in Marquette to Alvin C. and Lillian M. (Rosin) Priebe, graduated from Graveraet High School, Class of 1957, and was a lifelong Marquette area resident. He was employed in the food industry, working for Volwerth's and later retiring from Reinhardt Foods.
Mr. Priebe was a former member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Marquette. An accomplished musician, he played in numerous local bands in his younger years, playing the accordion, piano and organ. Most recently, while residing at the Mather Nursing Center, he would play the keyboard for the residents and staff. David was an avid Green Bay Packer and Nascar fan. In his free time he enjoyed getting together with his friends and playing cribbage at the Angry Beaver in Skandia.
Surviving are his brother, Walter Priebe of Marquette; 5 sisters: Amelia Wakkuri of Palmer, Patricia (Milton) Johns of Harvey, Eunice Miller of Marquette, Linda (Ron) Niemi of Ishpeming, Paulette Parent of Marquette; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Charlotte Priebe, a nephew, Greg Mager, 3 brothers-in-law: Lameo Wakkuri, Bill Miller and Leon 'Butch' Parent.
Honoring David's wishes, no public services will be held. A celebration of David's life will be held with the date and location to be announced by the Koskey Funeral Home.
