Anna Mazurek Richmond

MARQUETTE, Mich. - Anna Mazurek Richmond, 92, passed away Tuesday, December 4, 2012, at her home in the loving care of her family and caregivers of Lake Superior Hospice.

Anna was born December 29, 1919, in Ontonagon, Mich.; daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Yanasak. While in Ontonagon, she was an active member of the Holy Family Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by husband Casimir "Kay" Mazurek; son Thomas; and her second husband, Bud Richmond.

In 1978 Anna and Bud moved to Florida; Anna resided there for 30 years. While in Florida, she was an active member of the St. Raphael's Catholic Church. She was a member of the rosary society and took care of the altar flowers for many years. Anna was a member of the Lay Carmalite Order. She was a volunteer in the elementary school and in the nursing home and brought communion to shut-ins at home. Anna delivered meals on wheels and she worked in the soup kitchen for the migrant workers for 15 years. Anna planted and cared for a flower garden at a beautiful non-denominational place for meditation call "Mother of God, House of Prayer."

Anna returned to the U.P. in 2008 because of health problems. She lived in Marquette, near her daughter Karen (Jim) Anderson.

She leaves 4 children; Ronald (Peggy) Mazurek, Karen (Jim) Anderson, Paulette (Vance) Hogen, Leroy (Caryn) Mazurek and Luella Hall, Tom's wife; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Friends may call at St. Michael Catholic Church, in Marquette, on Thursday, December 6, 2012 from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at 2:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m., with the Rev. Larry Van Damme, pastor, as celebrant.

Interment will take place at a later date.

Following Mass, friends are invited to continue in celebrating Anna's life at Coco's Restaurant.
