NMU student drowns in PEIF pool

MARQUETTE - A female Northern Michigan University student drowned in the pool at the university's Physical Education Instructional Facility Friday evening.

According to NMU Communication and Marketing Director Cindy Paavola, the woman drowned shortly before 6 p.m.

The woman's identity is being withheld pending notification of family. No further information was available as of press time Friday night.

NMU Public Safety is investigating the the cause of the drowning.
