Northern Michigan men can't hold halftime lead, fall at Walsh in GLIAC opener

NORTH CANTON, Ohio - The Northern Michigan University men's basketball team was unable to hold a 10-point lead Thursday night in North Canton, Ohio, resulting in a 75-68 loss to Walsh University in the GLIAC opener and first meeting ever between the two schools.

NMU remains in Ohio to face Malone University at 1 p.m. on Saturday. Both Canton area universities are in their first year of GLIAC play.

The Wildcats led the Cavaliers 34-24 at halftime, but an 8-0 run by Walsh with around 13 minutes to play cut the margin to three points.

Walsh took over the game with 6:13 to play and never looked back in dropping the 'Cats to 1-3 overall.

Sophomore guard Quinten Calloway the NMU with 15 points while junior forward Matt Craggs tallied 13 points and 12 rebounds for a double-double. Sophomore forward Kendall Jackson and junior forward Scooter Johnson had 12 points each. Senior forward TJ Cameron had 10 points.

NMU shot 25 of 56 from the field and 5 of 13 from the free throw line and was out-rebounded 43-27.
