MARQUETTE - A 4-1 loss in the semifinal left the Marquette City Insurance Pee Wee AA hockey team with a 1-1-1 record in the International Silver Stick Tournament in downstate Midland.
Nate Bordson scored the lone Sentinels' tally, assisted by Kobie Guidebeck and Ted Hoenke.
Marquette goaltender Dylan Sibilsky made 18 saves. The Sentinels got to the semifinals by defeating Farmington Hills, 5-0, and tying Traverse City, 2-2.
Against Farmington Hills, Bordson scored three goals, while Luke Beerman and Daunte Fortner added one apiece in the win.
Guidebeck, Carter Peterson, Fortner, Tanner Phillips, Sean O'Connor, Ethan Jones, and Hoenke all collected helpers.
Tyler Bergwall turned aside 12 shots in net for the shutout.
Earlier the same day, Ethan Jones notched a goal and an assist, and Tanner Phillips scored with four seconds left, to force a tie with Traverse City.
Bordson assisted on both Sentinels goals.
Sibilsky came up with 20 stops.
TriMedia icers cruise
On Nov. 18 in Marquette, the TriMedia Squirt AA hockey team of Marquette belted the visiting Mackinac City Avalanche, 15-0 and 20-1, in NIHL play.
Marquette goaltender Preston Maki turned away 16 shots in the first contest to gain the shutout; teammate Carsen Hayes stopped nine shots in the second.
Jacob Peterson notched nine goals and three assists combined in the two games for the Sentinels. Brayden Stannard tallied eight goals and seven assists; Cooper Anderson seven markers and three helpers; and Andrew Fedrizzi came up with three tallies and an assist.
Also, Ansel Frost added two goals and two assists; Hogan Nemetz chipped in two markers and one assist; Joseph Luke and Evan Kroll each scored once and collected three helpers; and Lucas Guertin scored once with one assist.
Ryan McCoy got his first goal of the season for Marquette, while Jacob Hendrickson came up with two helpers,
TriMedia is now 11-1-2 in the NIHL and 17-3-4 overall.
Wells Fargo U14
In Marquette Nov. 24, the Marquette Wells Fargo U14 girls hosted the M&M Thunder co-ed team from Marinette (Wis.) and dropped both games by 4-1 scores.
Scoring in the first game for Marquette was Lexi Rabitaille. Notching a goal on a penalty shot in the second game was Lexi White.
Briana Holman tended net for both games for Wells Fargo, making a total of 43 saves.
Hockey Central wins,
ties KG Remax
Marquette Hockey Central played a home and home against Iron Range Negaunee KG Remax.
In the first game, Hockey Central defeated KG Remax 7-0 with Jon Jason leading the way with five goals. Collin Fure and Russ Modell each chipped in a goal apiece. Gaetano Cammarata had a pair of assists and Tim Muladore, Braedyn Locke and Karsten Kamps each had single assists in the game.
Soren Higgins had nine saves in the shutout for Marquette while Nolan Corwin had 19 saves for the loss for Negaunee
In the second game, the two teams battled to a 2-2 tie. Jason notched two more goals while Fure, Kamps and Brendan McCoy each had single assists.
Scoring for Negaunee was Hayden Mann and Chad Pohlman. Ander Sorenson picked up a lone assist.
Higgins came up with 20 saves while Corwin turned aside 16.
