NEGAUNEE, MI. - Reynold C. Knuuttila, age 77 of 564 Hwy M-35 Negaunee, passed away of an apparent heart attack on Saturday, November 24, 2012 in Escanaba.
Reynold was born September 1, 1935 in Houghton to the late Jacob & Fannie (Finney) Knuuttila. He graduated from Houghton High School, class of 1953 and served his country in the US Army. Reynold and his family moved to Milwaukee where they lived for several years and later moved to Negaunee where he lived for the past 42 years.
Reynold worked as a custodian for Northern Michigan University where he retired from in 2000. He was an avid Detroit Tigers fan, enjoyed reading and was well known for his craft work, especially wooden toys.

He was a member of the Apostolic Lutheran Church in Ishpeming Township.
Reynold is survived by his wife Jeanne (Norman) Knuuttila whom he married on October 6, 1956, 2 children: Cheryl (Gary) Schafer of Crystal Lake, IL and Scott (Lisa) Knuuttila of Brandon, WI, 4 grandchildren, Danielle, Derek, Megan and Tegan, 4 sisters: Ruth Salo of Hancock, Rachel Heikkinen of South Lyon, MI, Rose (Dave) Hillstrom, & Regina (Dave) Juntti both of Lake Linden, MI, a brother, Robert (Lois) Knuuttila of Houghton along with numerous nieces and nephews. Reynold was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Raymond.
Reynold's family will greet relatives and friends on Thursday, Nov 29th at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home in Ishpeming from 4:00-7:00pm and on Friday, Nov. 30th from 10:00-11:00am at the Apostolic Lutheran Church in Ishpeming Twp where funeral services will be held at 11:00am with Roger Kangas officiating.
Pallbearers will be his nephews Ernie Kossow, Lars Knuuttila, Ken Knuuttila, John Heikkinen, Bill Knuuttila and Steve Salo.
Interment will take place in the Oskar Cemetery in the spring.
