Wonderland Walk at library

MARQUETTE - Peter White Public Library will hold a Holiday Open House from 1 to 3 p.m. Dec. 2 in the Huron Mountain Club Gallery on the main floor of the library. The 2012 Winter Wonderland Walk will display trees and wreaths decorated by Marquette County community members, families, and organizations.

'Brave Brush' art displayed

MARQUETTE - Sweet Water Cafe's 152nd art display is titled "Brave Brush" and features the work of Martha Fotopulos. Items will be displayed until Tuesday at the cafe on Third Street in Marquette.

NCLL offers Turkey, Greece talk

MARQUETTE - Northern Center for Lifelong Learning will sponsor a presentation on Kay Payant's May trip to Istanbul, Ephesus (Turkey) and the Greek islands of Samos, Patmos and Rhodes will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. Dec. 6 in Room 101-B of the Superior Dome at Northern Michigan University. This event is free for NCLL members, $5 for others. Payant is a retired NMU professor of English and an NCLL member.

Probus Superiorland to meet

MARQUETTE - Probus Superiorland will meet at 11 a.m. Dec. 4 at the Bonanza Restaurant in Marquette for the annual Christmas gathering. Dan Richards will lead carol music, including a presentation of "The Twelve Days of Christmas."

Health, safety workshop offered

HOUGHTON - The Keweenaw Economic Development Alliance is partnering with the Michigan Occupational Safety & Health Administration to offer the one-day health and safety workshop "Control of Hazardous Energy Sources." The workshop will begin with registration at 8 a.m. Dec. 4 at the Lakeshore Center, 600 E. Lakeshore drive, Houghton.

The workshop will cover: Minor tool change exemptions, Components of a proper Lockout/Tagout procedure; Types of Lockout/Tagout devices; Requirements of periodic inspections; and Group and contractor Lockout/Tagout responsibilities.

Cost of $105 includes lunch and course materials, and participants will receive a certificate of completion from Macomb Community College. The courses are targeted to commercial and residential construction firms, manufacturing companies, municipalities and educational institutions. Racers selling citrus

MARQUETTE - Marquette Mountain Racing Team, based at Marquette Mountain, is fundraising for their organization through a citrus sale with Farmer Q's Market. The prices are $37 for 56 navel oranges, $33 for 32 Texas red grapefruit and $35 for a mixed case. Citrus orders will be taken until Dec. 14 with a pick-up day of Dec. 20 at Farmer Q's Market in downtown Marquette.

Orders can be taken by MMRT members or at Farmer Q's Market.
