NEWBERRY, MI - Elizabeth Spincich, 87, of Newberry, passed away Thursday evening, November 22, 2012 surrounded by her family at the Helen Newberry Joy Hospital Circle of Life room.

Born in Newberry on January 17, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Christo and Alexsandra (Katajisto) Jussila. Elizabeth left the area to work in the defense plants in Detroit during WWII. Upon returning to Newberry, she met her husband Frank Spincich. They married on December 22, 1945, spending their entire married life in the Newberry area.

Elizabeth was employed at Helen Newberry Joy Hospital for many years delivering many babies. She retired from the hospital on January 16, 1980 and then started the second part of their life retiring to Mission, TX. They spent their time residing there for 6 months and coming home for 6 months. Living on the lake, she enjoyed fishing, her flower gardens, needlework and spending time with her grandkids camping. Elizabeth is preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Mary Bruce; Mildred Bruning, Bruno, and Art Jussila, Helen Freeman, and Francis and Matt Jussila.

Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Frank Sr., of Newberry; son and daughter-in-law Frank Jr.(Lora), and daughter and son-in-law Sandy (Boomer) Richmond, all of Newberry. Her grandchildren; Kristi Beneke, Chad and Jessica Spincich; Kurt and Brent Richmond; and her sister Ruth Fezatte of Lansing.

According to her wishes, Elizabeth was cremated. A Memorial service celebrating her life will be at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Newberry on Monday, November 26, 2012 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Jesse Brown officiating.

The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 am until the time of services.

For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, the R. P. Hicks Circle of Life Room in care of Helen Newberry Joy Hospital, or Northwood's Home Health and Hospice.
