Pair arrested in Marquette Township business break-in

MARQUETTE - The Marquette County Sheriff's Office is currently investigating a breaking and entering that occurred at the EZ Stop in Marquette Township early Thursday morning and led to the arrest of two subjects.

According to police, a witness called 911 to report two males breaking into the business around 12:55 a.m.

The suspects gained entry through a side door of the business, stole cartons of cigarettes, hard alcohol and a case of beer before fleeing on foot. They were identified by witnesses and tracked down to a residence on West Fair Avenue. Both suspects were arrested and lodged at Marquette County Jail.

Their names are being withheld pending arraignment.

Assisting agencies were the Michigan State Police Canine unit, Marquette City Police Department and Northern Michigan University Public Safety.
