ISHPEMING, MI - Elizabeth M. "Betty" Gauthier, age 89, of 587 Duncan Ave., Ishpeming passed away on Monday, November 19, 2012 at her home in Ishpeming.
Betty was born May 1, 1923 in Marquette the daughter of the late Henry and Emma (Marcel) Fassbender. She grew up in Marquette and was a graduate of the Bishop Baraga High School, Class of 1941. She and her late husband Paul Gauthier, lived and raised their family Ishpeming. Betty worked as a Sales Clerk for J.C. Penney Co. at the Ishpeming Store, retiring in 1984.
Betty was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church where she had been active with the Ladies Guild and in the sewing circle. She was a former member of the Ishpeming Lady Elks. Betty will be remembered as a talented seamstress and a wonderful cook. She enjoyed all her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include two sons Tom (Sandi) Gauthier of Powers and Jim (Sue) Gauthier of Ishpeming, 5 grandchildren Todd (Elizabeth Raisanen) Gauthier, Brian Gauthier, Brad Gauthier, Lisa (Dave) Cody and Jamie (Tony) Barbiere, 6 great grandchildren Alyssa, Mason, Liam, Parker, Alexa & Lance, a sister-in-law Elizabeth Coron of Ishpeming, along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Paul in 1987, 3 brothers - Marvin, John and Robert Fassbender and 3 sisters Mildred Carmody, Dorothy Erickson and Helen Neimyer.
The family will greet relatives and friends from 11:00am until 12:00noon on Friday, November 23, 2012 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 noon on Friday at the St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. James Challancin to officiate.
Entombment will take place at the Holy Cross Mausoleum in Marquette.
Pallbearers will be Betty's grandchildren.
The family thanks all of Betty's relatives, friends and neighbors for their help and support over the years.
