MANISTIQUE - A Schoolcraft County man suffered minor injuries Monday afternoon when he moved a burning truck from a garage.

At 2:05 p.m., Manistique Public Safety officers were dispatched to a residence on a report of a vehicle fire. The home was located at 392N Cherry Hill Drive in Manistique Township.

When officers arrived, they found a pickup truck parked in a driveway, fully engulfed in flames. The officers were able to extinguish the flames immediately, but the vehicle was destroyed.

Police said the owner of the truck, Jason Hubble, had been welding on the truck inside his pole barn garage when the vehicle caught on fire. Officers said Hubble was able to move the truck outside to prevent the garage from burning, but suffered minor injuries in the process.

Hubble was taken to Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital in Manistique by Manistique Public Safety ambulance. Officers said there were no other injuries to firefighters or citizens.

Manistique Public Safety officers were assisted by Michigan State Police troopers and the Schoolcraft County Sheriff's Department.
