SAULT STE. MARIE, Ontario - The wins aren't coming, but the Marquette Electricians are avoiding losing streaks by pulling out ties recently.
The Local 1070 Midget AAA team tied the Markham, Ontario, Waxers 2-2 at the Soo Greyhounds International Tournament on Friday, their third draw in their past six games.
Later on Friday, the Belle Tire Selects of the Detroit area defeated Marquette, 2-0, as the Electricians record now stands at 0-19-6.
Goaltender Bryce Leaf got large credit for the tie, making 40 saves as the Electricians were outshot 42-19.
Teammates Wade Hanke and Torrin Grange scored goals as Mitchell Kazmierczak, Jacob Peterson, Andrew Plomer and Eric Chapman had assists.
Markham led 1-0 after one period and 2-1 after two as Marquette knocked home the game-tying goal in the third period.
Belle Tire scored single goals in the first and second periods, though other information about the game was not available.
