Pee Wee Sentinels win 3 of 5 in Duluth

MARQUETTE - The City Insurance Sentinels Pee Wee AA youth hockey team had one rough day over the weekend, but made up for it with two other good ones.

The Marquette-based team ended up with three wins in five games at the Duluth, Minn., Invitational.

On Friday, Marquette defeated Little Falls, 8-2, as Daunte Fortner had two goals and two assists.

Tanner Phillips also scored twice, while Sean O'Connor, Ethan Jones and Nate Bordson were among those with one goal.

Bordson and O'Connor also had two assists each and Nick Leafers, Reece Fortner and Alec Olivier had one. Tyler Bergwall made 24 saves.

Saturday's was the Sentinels' tough day as they lost 9-1 to Duluth East and 8-0 to Chaska.

O'Connor scored Marquette's only goal with Bordson assisting and Bergwall made 12 saves and Dylan Sibilsky 58 splitting duties in net.

The Sentinels rediscovered their touch Sunday, beating Des Moines 12-0 and Little Falls 10-2 as Fortner had six goals and two assists for eight points; Bordson, 3-4-7; O'Connor, 3-2-5; Fortner, 3-0-3; Phillips, 2-4-6; Kobie Guidebeck, 2-1-3; Luke Beerman, 1-2-3; Jones, 1-2-3; and Leafers, 0-3-3.

Bergwall made nine saves and Sibilsky 19 saves on Sunday.
