MARQUETTE - When it comes to caring for an orthopedic injury or condition, Advanced Center for Orthopedics is there for its patients, from the first examination through the recovery process.

Formerly Orthopedic Surgery Associates of Marquette, P.C., Advanced Center for Orthopedics has been serving the people of the Upper Peninsula since 1966. What started as a two physician practice is now the largest, most state-of-the-art orthopedic practice in Upper Michigan.

Its board-certified and specialty-trained physicians cover all aspects of orthopedic treatment. Surgical and non-surgical specialty areas offered include: spine; shoulder and elbow; foot and ankle; hand and wrist; hip and knee; sports medicine; total joint replacement and revision; trauma; and plastic and reconstructive procedures.

Advanced Center for Orthopedics offers comprehensive orthopedic care and is there for their patients from the first examination throughout the recovery process.

Additionally, other in-office services include physical therapy, digital x-ray, bone density studies, and body composition scanning. With all of these services available in one location, a patient essentially never has to go outside of the practice during the course of their treatment and care.

Providing this broad spectrum of orthopedic services creates enhanced continuity of care for patients. A patient's condition is first diagnosed to find out the extent of their injury or condition; conservative, non-surgical options are considered; and ultimately if it's determined the patient requires surgery, the specialty-trained surgeons takes them through their surgical options.

Pre- and post-operative rehabilitation can be done at the office as well through the in-office physical therapy and bracing services. Having everything under one roof allows for better communication between the providers and having that communication leads to improved outcomes for patients.

People of the U.P. don't have to travel outside the area for comprehensive orthopedic care, they have it right here in Marquette. Advanced Center for Orthopedics is closer to home, closer to a patient's support system, with physicians nearby to take care of any issues that may arise.

Marquette is the primary practice location for Advanced Center for Orthopedics, but they have outreach clinics in Escanaba, Ishpeming, L'Anse, Munising, Baraga and Newberry. They see patients and also perform surgeries at these outlying facilities. Patients don't have to travel to Marquette or go as far as Green Bay to receive their care. This keeps care in the U.P.

The staff at Advanced Center for Orthopedics prides themselves on customer service, patient-focused care, access to treatment in a reasonable time, and comprehensive services. They create individualized treatment plans specifically to meet each patient's needs.

In addition, they have surgeons on-call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, through the Emergency Department at Marquette General Hospital. They are also the official team physicians for Northern Michigan University athletics and United States Olympic Education Center.

Advanced Center for Orthopedics also supports local area athletes and high school sports teams.

To make an appointment in Marquette or at one of the outside clinics call 225-1321 or 800-462-6367. Advanced Center for Orthopedics accepts most insurances. Patients should check their medical coverage before making an appointment to determine if a referral from their primary care physician is necessary.
