MARQUETTE - Two people were taken to Marquette General Hospital Thursday afternoon after a two-vehicle traffic crash along U.S. 41 in Marquette Township, near the driveway for Lowe's Home Improvement Warehouse.
Deputies from the Marquette County Sheriff's Office said the crash was reported at about 1:25 p.m. and occurred near Brickyard Road. Names of those involved have not been released.
Police said Karen Korpi, 72, Gwinn pulled her 2011 Buick Lacrosse out of the Lowe's driveway into the path of a westbound 2004 Cadillac Escalade driven by Jamie Weigold, 39, of Marquette. Korpi was extricated from her vehicle and she and her 23-year-old female passenger, Nicole Young, were taken to Marquette General for treatment of unknown injuries. Korpi was listed in fair condition at Marquette General today. Young had been treated and released. Weigold was treated at the scene for her injuries.

Police said Korpi was ticketed for failing to yield the right of way.
Deputies were assisted by Marquette Township fire and rescue personnel, Medi-Ride and Marquette General EMS.
