MARQUETTE, Mich. - Thomas Lee Peterson, 71, of Marquette, passed away Monday morning, November 5, 2012 at his residence surrounded by his loving family and under the care of Lake Superior Hospice.
Tom was born on May 26, 1941 in Marquette, a son of the late Lyle and Gertrude E. (Winkka) Peterson. He was a 1959 graduate of Bishop Baraga High School where he lettered in numerous sports. After graduation, Tom proudly served his country with the U.S. Army from 1959 1962.
Tom and his wife, Sharon, owned and operated Peterson's Spot and the North Spot for 37 years. He enjoyed snowmobiling and motorcycling and was an avid Green Bay Packer Fan and coin collector. He was a member of St. Louis the King Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife, the former Sharon Lee Moffatt whom he married on January 26, 1963 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Ishpeming; four children, Robert Peterson of Brookings, SD, Kelli (Mark) Spitza of Marquette, Sheri Erickson of Negaunee, and Cammi (Don) Dupras of Marquette; six grandchildren, Cassie (Jake) Lauren, Mariah (Jesse) DuPont, Christopher Kangas, Cody Erickson, Ryan Spitza, and Alexis Erickson; three great-grandchildren, Matthew, Thomas Lee and Brody Lauren, and an anticipated great-granddaughter, Lillian DuPont; three sisters, Carole Jean of Sault Ste. Marie, MI, Judy Bernard of Penn Valley, CA and Francie (Pat) Larrabee of Rapid River; one brother, Richard (Anne) Peterson of Melbourne, Australia; also several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will take place at St. Louis the King Catholic Church on Friday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the church at 1 p.m. Friday with the Rev. Bendetto J. Paris officiating. Burial will take place in the Holy Cross Cemetery.
