MARQUETTE - As Tuesday turns into Wednesday, incumbent U.S. Rep. Dan Benishek, R-Crystal Falls, and challenger Gary McDowell, D-Rudyard, are in a neck-and-neck race.
With 63 percent of precincts reporting in Michigan's 1st Congressional District, McDowell holds a narrow election night lead, according to the Associated Press.
The AP reports that McDowell has 95,142 votes, while Benishek has 94,860. Libertarian Party challenger Emily Salvette has 6,329 votes and Green Party candidate Ellis Boal has 2,316.
