NEGAUNEE, Mich. - Frank Leo Juchemich, 71, lifelong Negaunee resident, died unexpectedly Saturday evening, November 3, 2012 at his cabin in Ralph, MI.
Frank was born December 31, 1940 in Negaunee to Leo and Sylvia (Lahti) Juchemich and attended Negaunee High School. He was employed by Cleveland Cliffs as an underground miner at the Mather 'B' until its closure in 1979. He then worked at the Empire Mine, retiring November 30, 1995.
Mr. Juchemich was a member of the US Steelworkers Local #4950. In his free time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and spending time in the woods.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Darlene J. (Uitto) Juchemich of Ralph; 2 sons: Scott Juchemich of Ishpeming and Steven (Becky) Juchemich of Negaunee; 2 daughters: Tami-Jo Juchemich of Ralph and Tricia (Greg) Montgomery of Negaunee; 6 grandchildren: Austin and Hallie Juchemich, Ashley and Dylan Juchemich, Dustin and Brooke Montgomery; a great-granddaughter, Lilie Miller; a brother, Dan (Rosie) Juchemich of Negaunee Township; 2 sisters: Nancy (Donald) Denofre of Big Bay and Geraldine (Jim) Gervae of Gwinn; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Frank was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Kathy Juchemich.
