F. Randy Johnson

ISHPEMING, MI - F. Randy Johnson, age 82, of 684 Elliott Ave., Ishpeming passed away on Wednesday, October 31, 2012 of an apparent heart attack in the E.R. at the Bell Hospital in Ishpeming.

Randy was born November 13, 1929 in Negaunee to Frank H. & Aili (Ranta) Johnson. He graduated from Negaunee High School, class of 1948 and attended Cleary College in Ypsilanti. Randy worked for Cleveland Cliffs for over 37 years, working at the Athens, Humboldt, Republic, Empire and Tilden Mines where he retired from in 1987 as a supply accountant.

Randy was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church where he was an active member being an usher, helping with the soup luncheons and involved with the Trinity Brotherhood. He was a member of the Ishpeming ELKS Lodge #447. Randy enjoyed camping every summer for 41 years at various campgrounds around the Upper Peninsula and many years at River's Bend Campground in Iron Mountain. He also enjoyed woodworking and time spent with his children and grandchildren.

Randy is survived by his wife Marilyn (Urich) Johnson, whom he married on August 18, 1956, 2 children: Brian (Michelle) Johnson of Summerville, WV and Bryn (Jim) Zalud of Mt. Pleasant, MI, 6 grandchildren: Kristy, Colten and Kelly Johnson, Amanda, Jeremy and Jon Zalud, 2 sisters in law: Mary Urich of Hibbing, MN and Dorothy Urich of Traverse City, MI. Randy was preceded in death by his parents and brothers in law Roger and Dan Urich.

Randy's family will greet relatives and friends on Sunday, November 4, 2012 from 1:00-3:00pm at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Ishpeming where a memorial service will be held at 3:00pm with Rev. Kenneth Lahners officiating.

Honorary Pallbearers will be his grandchildren.

Memorial considerations may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church in memory of Randy Johnson.
