Don’t forget God

November 2, 2012
The Mining Journal

To the Journal editor:

"Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it." - Psalms 127:1

Our nation is certainly at a critical time. The political conventions are over and the two parties have drawn a line in the sand with their sharply contrasted platforms. Now it's up to each one of us to decide which side of the line we will join with? To make that distinction a bit clearer, I'd just like to share a few thoughts.

Now a teacher can be fired because he has a Bible on his desk. Many sports teams aren't allowed to pray before a game. Students have been restricted from praying at graduations in public schools. How did we get to this point anyway?

Just recently was the 50th anniversary of a Supreme Court decision outlawing public prayer in our schools. Do you really think our schools are better off now than they were then? That decision brought calamity to our nation. Removing God from areas will always bring negative changes. God's plan is to always lift up and bring positive changes.

Ultimately our country's situation across the board is not a Democratic thing nor a Republican thing...it is a spiritual thing that is a reflection of our country's declining relationship with God.

I would suggest that a vote for righteousness is a vote that God can honor and then he will bring the increase to our nation. Increase in the economy, in jobs, in morality, and every single area where we have problems. We are not smart enough to figure out our huge problems alone without God's involvement.

Remember the story of the frog put in cold water who gets boiled gradually. We know that is basically a legend. It's been proven that as the heat rises, the frog will definitely jump out. Guess what folks, this may be the last election we have to jump out.

I end with a quote from Ronald Reagan: "If we ever forget that we're one nation under God, then we will be one nation gone under."
