MARQUETTE - Eight school boards have seats up for election this year, with one contested races.
The Gwinn Area Community Schools board has two open seats with two people running. Incumbent Ruth Spade and Bill Nordeen are running for the six-year terms.
The Ishpeming School District board has two open seats, with two incumbents running for re-election. Robert Nadeau is running for a six-year term and Paul Olson is running for a partial term of two years.
Marquette Area Public Schools board has one open position, with incumbent Scott Brogan running for the six-year seat.
The Negaunee Public Schools board has two open seats with three people running. Nita Kay Argall as well as incumbents Martin Renaldi and David B. Rice will appear on the ballot, running for six-year terms.
The NICE Community Schools board has two open seats with one person running. Incumbent Nathan Smith is seeking re-election for a six-year term.
The Powell Township School District board has two open seats with one person running. Incumbent Jennifer Thompson is running for a three-year term.
The Republic-Michigamme Schools board has two open seats with two people running. Incumbents Mark A. Antilla and Dave Holsworth are seeking re-election to four-year terms.
The Mid-Peninsula School District has four open seats, with four incumbents running. Jennifer B. Bagwell and Dale Schneider are seeking six-year terms while Delores Englund and Robert VanDamme are seeking four-year terms.
