To the Journal editor:
It must be annoying to have to debate someone who spends huge sums of other people's money to get elected to do something he despises. If you have a problem with representative democracy like Benishek seemingly does, why ever would you want to run for office?
Tea party representatives like U.S. Rep. Dan Benishek, R-Crystal Falls, do not live up to the proud tradition of public servants to our great nation. I'm not sure Benishek even understands the concept of service.
I am proud of Gary for reporting to duty at a candidate forum at the Peter White Public Library last week. Gary might have declined the invitation himself knowing that Benishek was not attending, but clearly Gary understands the job requirements for being a representative to Congress.
Personally, I am not sure what would be more annoying, debating Benishek or sitting next to an empty chair that should have been filled by a sitting member of Congress who represents me.
We need to elect people who take their duties seriously and who want to represent all 100 percent of us. Benishek does neither of those things.
I am voting for Gary McDowell. I hope you will too.
