CALUMET, MI. - Alfred E. Moilanen, 93, a resident of Calumet and current resident of the Marquette County Medical Care Facility in Ishpeming passed away on Saturday morning October 27, 2012.
He was born on September 7, 1919 in Allouez a son of the late Andrew and Hilda (Austin) Moilanen.
Alfred worked as a truck driver for Thornton Trucking in Hancock and Lindberg Trucking in Ishpeming. He enjoyed watching and listening to Detroit Tigers baseball. He also was a big Calumet Football fan. People may remember him for riding his bike to the store in Calumet.
On October 26, 1946 he was married to Mayme Skufca and she preceded him in death on November 28, 2003
Alfred was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army during WW II.
Preceding him in death was his wife Mayme, a sister and 12 brothers.
He is survived by a son Stanley (Virginia) Moilanen of Ishpeming, 7 Grandchildren whom he enjoyed spending time with and visiting with: Kris Moilanen of Escanaba, Kim (Jim) Holman of Henderson, Nevada, Darrell Moilanen of Las Vegas, NV, Kurt Millimaki of Ishpeming, Kevin (Maria) Millimaki Ishpeming, Lisa (Terry) Treece of Virginia and Keith (Tammy) Millimaki of Ishpeming. Several Great Grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday October 30, 2012 at 1:00 PM in the Erickson Crowley Funeral Home in Calumet with Pastor Richard Eskola to officiate.
Friends may call at the Erickson Crowley Funeral Home on Tuesday from 12-1:00 PM. Burial will be in the Lake View Cemetery in Calumet.
