Carol Joyce (Matson) Green

MARQUETTE, MI - Carol Joyce (Matson) Green, age 81, of 2020 West Ridge Street, Marquette, entered eternal life Friday, October 26, 2012, at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility in Ishpeming, in the loving, comforting care of her family.

Born August 8, 1931 in Ishpeming, a daughter of Werner and Syma (Kulju) Matson, Carol was raised in Ishpeming and graduated from the Ishpeming High School. On September 8, 1951, she married her high school sweetheart, Donald H. Green, and together the couple established their home and raised five children in Marquette. For many years, Carol served as bookkeeper for the family business, B & B Furnace Company. She also worked at Weight Watchers for many years where she met many wonderful friends. Carol was a loving wife and wonderful mother who enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers and going to camp with her family. She also loved spending time with her great- granddaughter, Payton, her eyes lighting up whenever she was around. Carol was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church for nearly 60 years.

Carol is survived by three daughters and a son, Chris (Glen Alexander) Reno, Kay (Bill) Mandersheid, Joan Green, and Gary Green; son-in-law, Wayne (Carol) Pleaugh; her grandchildren, Tony (Terri) Reno, Tammy Reno, James Pleaugh, Stacy Pleaugh, Jon (Erin Hilberg) Pleaugh, Matthew Mandersheid; great- grandchildren, Payton Pleaugh, Joel and Jain DeMerse; and special family friend, Amy Geyso.

Also surviving are her sister, Barbara Sheldon; brother, Roger (Marilyn) Matson; brother and sisters in-law, James (Connie) Green, Ruth (James) Luke, and Agnes Green; several cousins, nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald in April 2008; daughter, Dianne Pleaugh; granddaughter, Jessica Pleaugh; son-in-law, Joe Reno; and several brothers- in-law and sisters-in-law.

Friends may call at the Messiah Lutheran Church on Tuesday, October 30, from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at 5:00 pm Tuesday evening with Rev. Amanda Kossow officiating. A reception will follow in Magnuson Hall.

Burial will be made in the Park Cemetery. Family members will serve as escorts.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of the Marquette County Medical Care Facility for their endless compassion and support and for the many kindnesses extended to Carol and her family.
