Library seeks Lego donations

MARQUETTE - The Peter White Public Library in Marquette is looking for regular sized Lego donations as they are starting a Lego reading and play club. Unwanted Legos can be brought to the library's Children's Room.

Legion to sponsor breakfast

HERMANSVILLE - The Floriano-Stecker American Legion Post 340 will sponsor an all-you-can-eat breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. Sunday at the American legion Hall in Hermansville.

The cost is $6 for adults, $3 for children 6-12, and free to younger children and adults over 90. Proceeds will go toward the community, veterans and Legion activities.

Monster Dash, costume contest set

MARQUETTE - A Marquette Monster Dash, Fun Run and Walk and Costume Contest to raise funds for the Marquette Senior High School Choir and Orchestra will take place at 3 p.m. Sunday at the MSHS canopy entrance and in the MSHS Room 101 (band room), 1203 W. Fair Ave., Marquette. Registration will be from 2 to 2:40 p.m. and the entry fee is $10.

Registered runners and walkers are eligible for the costume parade at 2:45 p.m., with trophies for runners and prizes for costumes to be presented at 4 p.m. in the Room 102 (choral/orchestra room).

Halloween dance for seniors

NEGAUNEE - The Negaunee Senior Center will hold its 5th Annual Halloween Dance from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the senior center.

The dance will offer live music by The Hart Beats, door prizes, raffles and refreshments. Costumes are optional, but encouraged. Tickets cost $7 at the door. An optional dinner will be served for an additional $4.

Cost-share workshop offered

SKANDIA - The Marquette and Alger Conservation Districts will be holding a free workshop to familiarize landowners and farmers, large and small, with technical and cost-share assistance available through the Conservation District, Natural Resources Conservation Service and local food network resources.

The workshop will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Skandia Township Hall, 224 Krieger Dr. in Skandia. Presenters will include staff from the Conservation District, NRCS, Marquette Food Co-op and MSU Extension.
