To the Journal editor:
I believe it is important that Sands Township residents who intend to vote on Nov. 6 are aware of the contributions of current supervisor, David Kallio. He has served on the township board for 28 years; 20 as trustee, six as clerk, and the past two years as supervisor.
He has been and continues to be diligent in taking action to protect the Sands Plain aquifer, which applies water for all of Sands Township residents and businesses, as well as surrounding townships. He was instrumental in the board approving the availability for residents to participate in single stream recycling.
He is quick to recognize the needs of the community and takes thoughtful positive action while keeping fiscal responsibility a priority in decision making. He recognizes the importance of team cooperation in the governance of the township.
Some of the past township board accomplishments during David's tenure have been new township offices and EMS building for fire and ambulance service to the community, development of park, and gym, instrumental in obtaining grant funding for recreational development, establishment of cemetery property, and improvements to the transfer station to meet state standards for continued availability for residents.
His future plans for the township are continued maintenance and upgrades of township property, upgrade emergency service resources with the establishment of a secure water source for fire protection within the township and surrounding areas, continued service of garbage pickup, fire and ambulance protection, expand and promote recycling, and continue road improvements in the township.
I have worked for over 12 years with David providing service to Sands Township and I am very confident that a vote for David Kallio is a vote for positive progression and a secure future for Sands Township.
