Marquette man killed in traffic accident

MARQUETTE - An 86-year-old Marquette man died Saturday as a result of injuries sustained in a traffic accident.

According to Marquette City police, Donald A. Papin was crossing West Washington Street near Burger King at approximately 7 a.m. when he was struck by a van driven by a 50-year-old Marquette resident who was on his way to work.

The vehicle was eastbound at the time. Papin was crossing the road from north to south when he was struck.

The driver's name is not being released as an investigation into the incident is ongoing.

No charges have been filed.
