MARQUETTE, Mich. - Michael K. "Lash" LaChapelle, age 63, of Marquette, entered eternal life, October 17, 2012, at his home, in the loving care of his family.
Born March 21, 1949, in Marquette, the son of Lowell H. and Dorothy A. (Meyers) LaChapelle, Mike was raised in Marquette. He later moved to Lansing, Michigan and was employed in the automobile industry, working over 30 years for General Motors. He was dedicated with a strong work ethic, never missing work. Recently, Mike returned to Marquette to be near family. A lover of cars and motorcycles, Mike was meticulous about their maintenance and looks, always proud of his cars and ready to take a ride on his cycles. Mike was a member of the American Legion, Eagles, and VFW in the Lansing area.
Mike is survived by his daughters, Jackie (Jack) Gafford of Temple, GA and Julie (Chris) Barbee of Traverse City; his son, Michael (Robin) LaChapelle of Ishpeming; his grandchildren, Jackson Gafford, Cole and Jenna Barbee, Emily and Willow La-Chapelle; his sisters, Sue (Skip) Pederson, Cathy La-Chapelle, and Colleen Steen all of Marquette; a niece, Kim (Dave) Fredin of Marquette; a nephew, Jeff Pederson of Milwaukee, WI. Mike was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the Fassbender Funeral Home on Saturday, October 20, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 noon. Rev. Leon Jarvis, Marquette General Hospital chaplain, will preside. Inurnment will be made in the Holy Cross Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Mike's name may be directed to American Legion Riders, Holt Post 238, 1785 Cedar Street, Holt, MI 48842.
