NEGAUNEE, Mich. - Jack H. Martin, 78, of North Road, Negaunee Township, died at 8:15 a.m. on Monday, October 15, 2012 at Marquette General Hospital where he had been a patient since September 28.

Jack was born September 19, 1934, in Three Rivers, MI, to Robert and Peggy (Hutchinson) Martin and graduated from Lakeview High School in Battle Creek, Class of 1952. He was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard and was employed as a Master Plumber and Pipefitter for Local 335 Plumbers and Pipefitters, Battle Creek. He and his wife lived in numerous locations due to his employment, moving to Negaunee in 1979. Jack was a former member of the Negaunee Eagles and the Negaunee Rod & Gun Club. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and loved being in the outdoors. He enjoyed spending time at Camp 'Behave' and also with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife, Lavern I. (Scott) Martin of Negaunee Twp.; 3 sons: Stephen (Connie Werter) Martin of TN, Hank Roth of Toledo and Tim (Lorena Fry) Roth of Lambertville, MI; 3 daughters: Lori (Dale) Luokkala of Negaunee Twp., Dawn Martin of Toledo and Jackie (Lucas) Guevara of CA; 12 grandchildren: Jack, Justin and Jacob Martin, Danielle and Timmy Roth, Jr., Heather (Nick Rewald) and Heidi Luokkala, Timmy Martin, Jr., and A.J., Josh, Jade and Jack Guevara, 10 great-grandchildren, 1 brother, Robert Martin, Jr. of Kalamazoo, numerous extended Luokkala family members, many nieces and nephews. Jack was preceded in death by his parents.

Honoring Jack's wishes, no public services will be held. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
