THUNDER BAY, Ontario - The Marquette Electricians pulled out a tie Saturday evening and one point in a three-game Northern Lakes Hockey League series in Thunder Bay, Ontario, over the weekend.
The Local 1070 Midget AAA hockey team tied the Thunder Bay Kings 3-3, erasing a 2-0 deficit with three straight goals before the home team forged the tie late in the third period.
Torrin Grange scored two of Marquette's goals, on a power play at 2:42 into the second period and with 2:07 left in the third, while teammate Jacob Peterson also notched a marker just 16 seconds before the second period ended.
They erased two goals scored barely three minutes apart in the first period by the Kings, who got the game's final goal 55 seconds after Grange's third-period goal on a power play scored by Billy Exell.
Eric Chapman assisted on both of Grange's goals, while Ethan St. Germain, Levi Wunder, Nicholas Cammarata and Wade Hanke also picked up one assist each.
Electricians goalie Adam Ranck held his team in the game, making 38 saves, while TB counterpart Eric Mann had 24.
Marquette completed the series on Sunday with a 5-0 shutout loss to the Kings as Thunder Bay held a 45-28 shots advantage.
Nick Nigro scored twice for the Kings, who had one goal in the first period and a pair in each of the last two periods.
Bryce Leaf started in goal for the Electricians and made 37 saves while giving up all five goals and Ranck played the final seven minutes, stopping all three shots he faced.
The Electricians (0-12-3), who opened the series with a 2-1 loss Saturday morning, travel to Detroit this weekend to play Little Caesar's at Joe Louis Arena at 7 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. Sunday.
