MARQUETTE - Northern Michigan University's women's volleyball team took a two-game lead, but couldn't finish off Lewis University at the GLVC/GLIAC Crossover in Aurora, Ill., on Saturday.
Coach Dominic Yoder's Wildcats fell 3-2 (25-19, 25-18, 18-25, 23-25, 12-15) to drop to 13-9 on the season.
Kalli Herron led NMU with 20 kills and two aces. Andree Ring (12), Sarah Hamilton (12) and Lina Lopes (11) combined for 35 additional kills.
Lopes and teammate Kalin Zimmerman turned in 14 digs apiece, while Kellisha Harley recorded 48 assists.
For Lewis (13-8), Jen Krumwiede posted 15 kills, two aces and a team-high 23 digs. Leigh Barea had 40 assists.
