MARQUETTE, Mich. - Colonel Clifford Dallas Crane, 77, passed away Thursday morning, October 11, 2012, at Brookridge Heights Assisted Living, in the loving care of his family and caregivers.
Born November 5, 1934, in Greensboro, Georgia, to Odell and Nannie (Parker) Crane, Cliff spent his youth in Georgia until the time of his enlistment in the United States Air Force in 1954.
It was while stationed in Germany that Clifford met Ingeborg M. Kerl, whom he married September 24, 1958. Cliff and Ingeborg raised three children and remained happily married until Ingeborg's passing in 1995.

Cliff remained an active member of the Air Force until 1985, retiring as Colonel, after over 30 years of dedicated service. During Cliff's time in the Air Force reserves, he began an extensive accounting career in Detroit, Michigan, working for Chrysler.
He received his M.B.A. from Wayne State University. After 34 years of service to Chrysler, Cliff retired in December of 1996.
In his spare time, Cliff loved to travel and saw much of the world, bringing his family to 46 of the 50 states and visiting several continents. He had a great love for animals, gardening, genealogy and country music. He had a wonderful sense of humor and always had a good or bad joke to tell. Cliff was an extremely kind, generous, and sweet man, who had a deep love for his family.
The last two years of Cliff's life were spent at Brookridge Heights Assisted Living, where he received wonderful, loving care.
Cliff is survived by his daughters, Karin Crane (Barry Gershinzon), Kim (Jack) Frost; son, Mark (Shawn) Crane; sisters, Alice J. Crane, Barbra J. (Jim) Russell; brothers, Harland (Martha) Crane, Ralph (Patsy) Crane; grandchildren, Spencer, Natalie, Lauren, Aria, Aydin and Ansel; cousin, Ray (Mary) Crane; best friend, Edward "Buzz" (Linda) Jelinek.
Inurnment will take place at the Cathedral Church of St. Paul in Detroit.
