To the Journal editor:
Recently, an event took place that all Yoopers should be proud of: the completion of the breakwall in the Grand Marais Harbor. Not only does the completion end a decade-long struggle to fight for the safety of the boating public that use our beautiful Lake Superior, but it shows the fighting spirit of the community of Grand Marais.
It has to be noted that the leader of this project was Jack Hubbard and the community leader of one of the jewels of the Upper Peninsula. Jack, through hard work, was able to bring (together) U.S. Army Corp of Engineers, the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality and representatives of Michigan Senate and House of Representatives. Those who have to deal with this know that this is no easy task.
Jack, now a candidate for the House of Representatives district 109, has taken on a much bigger task to represent the people who reside in this district. The voters will have a choice.
