MARQUETTE, Mich. - William H. Wanberg, age 87, of 913 W. Fair Ave, Marquette, passed away Friday, October 5, 2012 in the loving care of his family.
Born June 25, 1925 in Marquette a son of John and Alma (Goodreau) Wanberg. Bill was raised in Marquette and attended Graveraet High School where he was active in basketball, football and track. During his senior year of high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served his county during WWII.
After his honorable discharge and service to his country, he married the former Elaine Swanson on November 9, 1946 and the couple set about establishing a home and raising a family in Marquette. Bill was employed with Lakeshore, Inc. for thirty nine years until his retirement in 1985 where he retired as plant manager.
A firm believer of giving back to the community, Bill was active with the Junior Achievement and the Parks and Recreation of Marquette County. Outside of his successful professional career, he was an avid woodworker and carpenter who was very proud of his accomplishments. Bill cherished the time spent with his grandchildren and never missed any of the sporting events his grandchildren competed in.
Survivors include his loving wife, Elaine of 66 years; his daughter, Jill M. (Robert F.) Frazee of Marquette; three grandchildren, William (Jessica) Teneyck, Robert W. Frazee, Daniel F. Frazee all of Marquette; great-grandsons, Tyler and Noah of Marquette; his brother, Richard (Alice) Wanberg of Green Bay and his son-in-law, Roger Soli. He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Cynthia Soli and brothers, John and Robert.
