Rep disappoints

October 10, 2012
The Mining Journal

To the Journal editor:

I am so disappointed in U.S. Rep. Dan Benishek, R-Crystal Falls. It looks like about 30 people turned out to an abandoned, boarded up apartment complex to make the point that (they believe) Benishek has ignored places like K.I. Sawyer that need public and private partnerships to make a more livable, safe community. Surely there are other such bases across the country.

Perhaps Benishek feels that folks at KI-veterans, retirees, families, renters and home owners are part of the 47 percent that the Republicans say will never take personal responsibility for their lives.

Seems like there's a whole bunch of people doing exactly that (taking responsibility for their neighborhood and community) and they want Benishek to be a part of their plan, but he could care less about their efforts to reach out to him for assistance from D.C.

Development grants and a jobs bill may be two things the congressman could assist with.

I applaud some of the union folks. Unlike Benishek, it looks like carpenters want to build or rebuild once thriving communities.
