To the Journal editor:
As a candidate for the District 4 Marquette County Commission, seat I am confronted by yard signs exhorting voters to RE-Elect my opponent, Gerry Corkin.
I submit that it is a total impossibility to re-elect any individual to a seat that they have never held especially in a city (Ishpeming) where he has not only never held office but never been on a ballot.
Redistricting cut the number of districts from 9 to the inexplicable number 6 with District 4 encompassing only the cities of Ishpeming and Negaunee. It is not possible for anyone to seek reelection when the district never existed prior to this years election.
Perhaps my opponent is simply fascinated by the letters RE as in retire/rehire or redistricting, another fine piece of commission work.
