NMU soccer falls at Northwood

MIDLAND - The Northern Michigan University soccer team took a 2-1 loss to Northwood University on Friday afternoon in its first of two road contestes this the weekend, fallin to 3-7 overall and 2-4 in the conference.

Northwood improved to 4-5-1 and 4-2-1 with the win.

All three goals of the game were scored in the first 12 minutes of play, with Northwood breaking away in the first five minutes with two goals.

The Timberwolves' Alyssa Tomassi got out quick, scoring both of her teams' goals unassisted. The first came at 1:15 into the first half and the second just three minutes later.

Northern's Gabriella Garza answered with an unassisted goal at 11:12.

NMU goalie Shelby Conard had four saves in the game, while Northwood's goalie, Julie Shields, had only one.

In terms of attempts, Northern took half the shots of Northwood, as the latter had 12 while the 'Cats notched only six.
